Our Vision
We see a Tasmania where migrants and refugees find the support they need to participate fully, contribute meaningfully, make friends and succeed
in creating happy and prosperous lives.
Tasmanians are welcoming
We see a Tasmania where people make it a practice to reach out and help those in need. They give their time, their care, their expertise,
money or material goods...
We believe Tasmanian's are essentially kind and they practice generosity in whatever way they can.
Tasmanians are generous
We see a Tasmania where there is full literacy, with everybody able to read, write, listen, speak or
otherwise communicate effectively.
And we see a Tasmania that is connected to the rest of the world through the generating and sharing of great ideas, brilliant stories and significant research .

Upcoming Projects
Tasmanians are welcoming
Welcome to Work Program
Former refugees are known for being very keen to get ahead, often have a strong work ethic and are very reliable.
Workplaces that embrace diverse employment benefit greatly from the broad range of perspectives, experiences and talents of employing people from different cultural backgrounds.
Language barriers and cultural norms can sometimes present initial obstacles. Employers and staff may need to gain some extra understandings to allow for cultural differences.
Welcome to Work is a program that supports employers, workplaces and refugees entering the workforce through cross-cultural mentoring.
We will also provide one off small grants to help refugees entering the workforce cover the costs of becoming job ready.

Giving Circle Tasmania
When we work together we have far greater impact. Sultan Foundation is weaving a network of like minded organisations and individuals who work together to make a real difference.
Giving circles, or collective giving groups, continue to develop as a significant grassroots philanthropic movement.
Giving circles offer an accessible model for making meaningful contributions to community impact projects, but they are still relatively new to Tasmania.
Sultan Foundation is establishing a new Giving Circle to support causes that helping people in need to live happier, healthier lives in Tasmania.
Contact us if you are interested in participating and our uniquely Tasmanian Giving Circle.

Lifelong learning scholarships
We prioritise the personal development of each individual, nurturing their talents and skills to help them realise their full potential and become confident, healthy and capable members of society.
At the community level, education can improve social cohesion, break cycles of generational poverty, lead to better levels of employment and promote a greater capacity to innovate.
Our scholarships help those who would otherwise not be able to access learning opportunities.
We will give small grants to people wanting to study across a range of learning contexts including workshops, short courses and longer education and training programs.

New story project
In 2026 - 2027 we will focus on addressing the difficult social problem of Family Violence - which primarily manifests as men using violence against women and children. ABS data shows that around 30% of Tasmanian women have been victims of intimate partner violence since the age of 15, which is over 70,000 women.
Tasmania-specific data from the National Centre for Action on Child Sexual Abuse recent study, has shown troubling gaps in many Tasmanian adults’ abilities to identify risks to children’s safety. Some adults also had limited understanding of the widespread and long-term impacts of child sexual abuse, low confidence and willingness to intervene, and didn’t know how to appropriately respond to child and adult victims and survivors.
We will partner with social service organisations to develop a new project that aims to foster deeper understanding of the root causes underlying the use of violence and abuse.
We will offer assistance to women in crises who are fleeing violence and have nowhere else to turn.
